Market for second homes likely to stay hot

Easing interest-rate fears spark home-builder rally 
Shares of home-building stocks traded sharply higher Wednesday as investors reacted to comments from Thomas Hoening, Kansas City Federal Reserve president, who said interest rates are “very close” to where they need to be after a series of quarter-point hikes.

Help with housing 
Washington County’s human resources director asked the County Commissioners on Tuesday to support a program that would help county employees with down payment or closing costs toward a home.

HAMMOND | A controversial home loan program for illegal immigrants likely will end when Bank Calumet changes hands on Saturday.

CLARKE INELIGIBLE FOR PLYMOUTH 
Plymouth will be without on-loan Wolves striker Leon Clarke for their home Championship game against Glenn Hoddle’s play-off chasers. Part of the loan agreement was that 21-year-old Clarke, who started in Argyle’s goalless draw at Preston, would not figure in Saturday’s match.
